Endurance Run

Life's a race, they say.
A marathon and not a sprint.
I've been reading, as you can see, Run to Win is really a good buy and I'm gonna feast on it.
It's been ages but I still remember the lesson content of a Physical Education (PE) session I had six years back in secondary sch. The coach rounded the class up and got us all out onto the public pavement. We were excited of course, simply because it would mean a change of scenery in our day's run.
We ran through the full length of lesson time and by the time we reached the sch's gates, you could already make an accurate guess that most of our limbs felt lead-heavy.
But that day, I learned an important lesson and I'm quite surprised it actually stayed in my mind till today. And I'm certain it would for long.
Our coach didn't show us a route beforehand nor did he tell us what we would be doing for the day's lesson. He simply said: "Ok, all of you follow me and we run slowly, at a good pace."
And at the end of it, he dismissed us saying: "Today's run is called The Endurance Run. It is to see where you are at, your stamina and whether you can complete the race or not."
And so, he taught me something important that day. It's about completion, being a good finisher counts much more.
Along the way, I too realised that God sometimes uses this run to conduct our lives' lessons too. He simply says: Come, follow Me. And He leads and guides, slowly but surely.
We may not know the route and He may keep silent sometimes but it's always on this Endurance Run that we come to discover more of ourselves- where we are going, what do we have and who we really are.
I have a reason to sing
