We had our last church service of 2008 yesterday afternoon and standing there, arms over my neighbours while singing Auld Lang Syne, I felt so happy and fortunate. Happy that we're bringing closure to a great year - it'd soon be the start of something better..and fortunate to be in this church with this people.
I love and am proud of being a part of City Harvest.
And I finally had a breakthrough - I fulfilled the 3rd item on my list of to-dos before the year ends (see my post on Dec 1). After service, I sang my two songs in front of an audience and a panel of judges. It was for an event called Talent Runway, organized by the zone to showcase and discover the talents it contains.
Of course I was nervous, I was actually trembling like crazy all throughout my singing but it feels awesome to sing what's in your heart to others.
I'd like to applaud myself here: Well done, Lynn! (Claps)
Personally, it took great courage to stand up there and sing. I have previously chickened out from joining quite a couple of our auditions. But this time, I told myself I just cannot. And something that really made me decide to bite the bullet and just do it was the list which I made at the beginning of the month. Indeed, goal-setting has its significance. So, set goals people! For without a vision, where would you be heading to?
Just wanna thank all the wonderful peeps who were there to lend their support:
Tizane: your presence and assurance meant so much! Alan: appreciate your helping with Sound and the impartation, however much it was, to our zone's Sound crew. Vanessa: I love the way you encouraged me saying "You can do it" it Mandarin. and you REALLY can afford to be less stingy with speaking in our Mother Tongue, c'mon gal!! Gregory: thank you for listening to my endless mumbling to self minutes before I went up. And you did WELL. we both have overcame our odds, yea! Adrian: Thank you for being there and staying throughout both our performances. Next time, you'll be the one up there playing the sax! : ) Jessie: love you so much, thank you for cheering for us. you're our little Ms. Sunshine. <3
Jim: hah...I know you wouldn't be bothered to be there if not for us being a part of it..xie xie ni!!
