connecting with people[ 11:21:00 pm ]
I'm caught between different kinds of situations and people some times. You find yourself in such too? Most recently, my patience has been tried many, many times but the good news is, I think I'm passing the test :) I'm learning to be even more understanding of the people around me because as much as I want them to know the shoes I have to fill, I need to be in theirs to know how they feel too.
Just to share... yesterday, I was in the office lift when a Westerner greeted me. He bothered to say hello despite the short one storey lift ride for me (he was going up a few more storeys) and that made an impact on me. I must say that as Asians, we can afford to be friendlier wherever we go and to whoever we meet. Yes, it is true that Asians are more reserved people but no excuses allowed! :)
That greeting really made my day..it just feels so good to know that even someone you don't know cares to wish you a great day ahead. Have made a mental note to myself to smile more, be more open to strangers and greet EVEN MORE whenever I can!
Before I go, just want to say here that there is no harm going some extra miles. No harm at all, just a little bit more effort needed.
I contacted a client this afternoon and he was really pleased I cared to call. Somehow, I felt a tinge of bad along with the good. A tinge of feeling bad because I wished I had called him even earlier so that I could have helped lessen all the trouble he had went through. But I felt so happy because I managed to meet his banking needs and he was happy too. He told me I'm very pleasant to talk to and I nearly went to heaven :)
It's the little things we do that make the greatest impact; I'm thoroughly convinced of this.
And it's such little things along the way that make me wanna go on and keep giving more of me, keep doing my best.
Thank you for reading! I know this post doesn't really have a structure..I am posting what's been waiting to be spewed out into the blog for the past two days, :D
